With reference to your

telegram No. 5 of the 6th January,

regarding the question of raising

a dollar loan locally by the Hong

Kong Government, I have the honour

to confirm my telegram No. 6 of

the 16th January in which I

informed you that I agreed to your

proposal to defer considering the

issue of a notification of the

reiemption of the existing sterling

stock for the present, peniing

further consideration of the matter

after the return of the Treasurer

to the Colony.

2. As stated in my telegram, I

presume that your proposals do not

contemplate the issue of any part
